Old Town North Alliance Sponsors May 2022 NAIOP Bus Tour Stop

Old Town North Alliance (OTNA) members TideLock, 1199 N. Fairfax Street, Carr Companies, and Hilco Redevelopment Partners were sponsors of the Rolling Stop along N. Fairfax Street for the NAIOP Bus Tour held on May 10, 2022.  The Bus Tour is an annual event that takes participants in Northern Virginia’s real estate industry to destinations where there is new construction or significant amounts of floor space available.  This year’s tour was to the neighborhoods, cities and counties closest to Washington (termed “inside-the-beltway” although some destinations are actually outside) – Crystal City, Potomac Yard, Old Town North Alexandria, Carlyle, Eisenhower Avenue, and Tysons Corner.

Old Town North Alliance President Agnès Artemel pitched Old Town North as a location for a rolling stop while serving on NAIOP’s bus tour working group; Ryan Whitaker from the OTNA Board spearheaded recruiting sponsors and volunteers.

OTNA Volunteers: Melissa Schrock (Hilco), Rodney Dew (Hilco), Lina Gheyssari (Community Three), Joe Reilly (Akridge), Caroline Scott (Carr Workplaces), Dave Yampolsky (Community Three), Caroline Blackmore (Preferred Office Network), Grant Epstein (Community Three), Ryan Whitaker (Whitaker Investments), Mike Shuler (Avison Young), Michelle Chang (Hilco), Kami Kraft (Mayhood) just before the buses arrived.

At the appointed time, an escort of about 25 motorcycle police came down N. Fairfax Street with lights flashing, and six buses packed with about 250 brokers and real estate professionals stopped in the 1000-1100 block of N. Fairfax Street.  Volunteers boarded the buses, handed out goody bags to attendees, and read a script detailing the amenities of Old Town North as well as special features of the PRGS (power plant) site, 1199 N. Fairfax, Tidelock, Muse, Venue, and Carr Workspaces.  The team was well-received by attendees, and all considered the day a great success!
