CHALK WALK Coming to Old Town North
On Saturday, October 15, streets in Old Town North Alexandria will be transformed; over a dozen chalk artists will be creating unique works on sidewalks and parking lots throughout Old Town North. People can start the Walk at Canal Center, continue through the streets contained in the newly formed Arts and Cultural District.
"This is the first major art event for the Arts District," according to Agnes Artemel, President of the Old Town North Alliance. "We are looking forward to this event and bringing more art to OTN." Members of the Alliance are actively participating in the Walk by providing space in which the artists can work, including Canal Center. and businesses like St. Elmo's Coffee Pub and Made in ALX.
Over 15 artists will be chalking starting at 10 AM. Until 4 PM, the artists will be available to talk to "walkers" while drawing. Artists will respond to questions giving an actual art experience to participants. A Kids Fun Area with chalking opportunities for children will be available.
Walkers are encouraged to patronize Old Town North coffee shops, restaurants and shops while they stroll. Food trucks will be available at Canal Center after 4.
