On Saturday, July 13th Old Town North is the place to be for celebrating Alexandria’s 275th Anniversary & the United States of America’s 248th Anniversary.
Admission is free and all are welcome (but please leave pets at home).
Oronoco Bay Park - 100 Madison St.
6pm-10pm
Festivities kick off at 6pm with a performance by Ethiopian-American singer songwriter Munit Mesfin, followed by remarks from Mayor Justin Wilson, and a poetry reading by Alexandria Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam.
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for a free concert from the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra at 8:30pm featuring a broad and diverse collection of patriotic music saluting Alexandria’s 275th Birthday.
The grand finale fireworks display starts at 9:30pm accompanied by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and military cannons provided by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment.
There will be on-site food vendors and food trucks stationed along Pendleton St.
Don’t miss out on…
1) free birthday cupcakes at 8pm - handed out by Alexandria City Council Members and Mayor Wilson (sponsored by Wegman’s).
2) the chance to try Port City Brewing Company’s special edition ALX275 Brew (an India Pale Ale brewed with 275 lbs of hops to commemorate the City’s 275th Anniversary).
