Sunday, September 29th - Chalk-A-Block
(Old Town North Alliance’s New Art Event)

Please click on flyer above to download or print.

On Sunday, September 29th, the Old Town North Arts & Cultural District will be brought to life by the chalk artists, live music, and local artists/makers of “Chalk-A-Block.”

Follow the Old Town North Tern’s chalk footprints from site to site throughout the neighborhood to complete the scavenger hunt and be entered to win prizes! (Pick up your scavenger hunt form at any location and turn it in at Made in ALX at 533 Montgomery St.).

Chalk artists will transform the sidewalks and parking lots of Old Town North into their canvases. Live music will fill the air from a variety of artists including Mars Rodeo, Yellow Door Jazz, The Frontier, Maddie Cantrell, Alex Alavi, and Alejandro Villareal. Local artists and makers will be on hand to showcase their works.  From ceramics to jewelry to apparel to spices to bath products to books and more, there will be something for everyone!

“Chalk-A-Block” will offer fun for all ages and will give you a chance to be an artist!  Chalk artists will designate areas at most locations where kids can join in and make chalk art of their own.  Alexandria’s own Mobile Art Lab 2.0 (introduced at the ALX 275th birthday celebration in July) will be parked at First St. & N. Fairfax St. to help make rubbings of the artist-designed stormwater covers installed in Old Town North last fall.

Old Town North Alliance thanks our wonderful partners in helping to host “Chalk-A-Block”: Hotel AKA, Made in ALX, Royal Restaurant, The Art League, Canal Center Events, Alexandria House, Simpson Development, Venue, Oak Steakhouse, Old Town North Community Partnership, and the City of Alexandria.

This event is free and open to the public - we hope to see you there!

TIME:              11:00am - 4:00pm

LOCATION:    Made in ALX (533 Montgomery St.) and various sites throughout Old Town North (see map on flyer).
