Monday, June 3rd - MetroStage Cabaret at the Lyceum:
“VIDA: An Immigrant Tale Told in Tango”
While continuing a fundraising campaign to support the building out of new theatre space at the Venue, Old Town North Arts Anchor MetroStage is hosting a Cabaret series at the Lyceum.
This month, Grammy Award-winning Argentine composer Emmanual Trifilio has created ten tangos, both vocal and instrumental, to be performed by Alexandria-based tango band, Quintango.
Join the group that Washington Post reporter Eric Brace called “one of Washington’s finest instrumental ensembles” for an evening of beautiful music on topics ranging from a “shattering love affair” to the loss of a parent to “the heartbreak of Ukraine.”

Tuesday, June 4th - Business Community Mayoral Debate
A debate among the candidates for Mayor of the City of Alexandria: Alyia Gaskins, Amy Jackson, and Steven Peterson. Moderated by Julie Carey, NBC4 Northern Virginia Bureau Chief.

Saturday, June 8th - ACT for Alexandria’s 20th Anniversary
Community Celebration
Come join this free, family-friendly event celebrating ACT for Alexandria’s work to improve the lives of the most vulnerable members of the community. Enjoy food, drinks, music, a community art project, games, and an exhibit spotlighting local artists.

Saturday, June 15th - Art Mart on the Plaza
Spend the afternoon strolling through the Art Mart, a free event bringing together over 50 local artists and makers. Offerings include pottery, paintings, candles, jewelry, soaps, and more. Stop in the Art Gallery (11 Canal Center Plaza) to check out the current show highlighting local galleries including Del Ray Artisans. The Art Mart will also have a variety of food vendors as well as children’s activities.

Friday & Saturday June 21-22 - Portside Festival
Join in this free festival celebrating Alexandria’s 275th anniversary with a weekend full of live music and fun for the whole family. Friday evening activities include live jazz performances and poetry readings as part of ALX JazzFest@Portside. The fun continues on Saturday with more music, hands-on art and history activities, and a chance to sample Port City’s ALX275, a special hoppy India Pale Ale brewed for the anniversary celebrations with 275 lbs. of hops.
