Late June Events Not to be Missed!

 

June seems to be a perfect month for events.   Old Town North offers numerous opportunities for learning, culture, shopping, or civic participation this month. Mark your calendar and plan to attend some or all of these fun and/or informative events:

  • Thursdays, June 15, 22 & 29, 3-7pm and Sundays, June 18 & 25, 10am-2pm: Farmers Market, hosted by the Old Town North Community Partnership, 901 N. Royal Street (markets continue every Thursday and Sunday)

  • Wednesday, June 21, 7am, noon, 5pm: Yoga for the Alzheimer’s Association, Montgomery Park (901 N. Royal Street), reading by City Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam after 5pm class, suggested donation $20

  • Thursday, June 22, 5-7pm: Summer Solstice at Canal Center, features free yoga, wellness vendors, food and music

  • Thursday, June 22, 6pm: Sally and the Mander perform at the Farmers Market (see above)

  • Friday, June 23, 7pm: Trivia Night, Lee-Fendall House, 614 Oronoco Street, $10 (continues every other Friday through August)

  • Wednesday, June 28, 5:30-9pm: Salsa on the Plaza, Canal Center, features live Latin music and dance lessons

  • Thursday, June 29, 6:30-8pm: NOTICe Civic Association meeting, 99 Canal Center - ground level bike club, features speakers City Council member Alyia Gaskins and a briefing from Ting Internet

  • Friday, June 30, 8-10pm: Wicked Comedy Night, Canal Center Bike Club, Boston comedy showcase 100% owned and operated by military veterans

In addition to these events, River’s Edge Yoga and the City of Alexandria Poet Laureate are sponsoring a Haiku Contest open to adults and students starting in Grade 1 (as of Fall 2023).
